You're holding two or three quotes that all use the same word, and there's no way to lay them on the same page. That isn't you being slow. They're describing different jobs with one label.
A file that needs help is an ordinary thing to have. Wanting the quotes to agree on what that help is, before anyone gets invited into your books, is just the careful way to buy it.
The slip is a feeling sold as a scope. Full cleanup. A week of work. A block of hours. None of those tell you which accounts get touched, or whether a year you already filed stays filed.
A short brief with the blank lines named. Which accounts move, which months are in scope, what happens to a filed year, who gets access and for how long, and what gets handed back at the end.
Your own balances stay off it. You can take the blank brief and use it on a quote from anybody, including one from here.
A brief is worth more when the desk answering it also prepares the return, because then the accounts get decided once with the return in view instead of twice. A Tax CFO is the controller and CFO seat for an owner-run business with the tax work inside it, so the books, the return and the plan come from one desk and the October number is decided before the year ends.
Breadth is the cleaned file, the filings and the return coming off one desk, which is why the fix holds. Height is the October conversation the file can finally support, the one that looks at the year while the year can still move.
Imagine somebody who bought forty hours of cleanup, got forty hours, and still couldn't tell a lender what the balance sheet meant. The hours were all delivered. Nobody had ever agreed what finished looked like.
Marking up a cleanup quote is ordinary buying work and it doesn't come with a CPA license. Audits, reviews, compilations and any report that gives assurance on your statements belong to a firm that holds one.
If a quote you're already holding promises one of those, we'll say so before a file gets shared and point you at the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy lookup. Payday isn't run from this desk either. The full wording is on the disclosures page.

A sentence about the quote is enough. You will be talking to the Steven Palmieri practice. Leaving with the blank brief is a finished visit.
